Privacy.
Privacy is central to the therapeutic relationship. Your privacy and confidentiality will be treated with care and respect.
Everything discussed in therapy sessions is treated as confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the therapeutic relationship without your consent. There are, however, limits to confidentiality.
Counsellors and psychotherapists have an ethical and legal responsibility to take appropriate action where there is a serious concern about the safety of a client or another person, including concerns relating to the welfare or protection of children.
To support safe, effective, and ethical practice, I engage in regular professional supervision in accordance with the ethical standards of the IACP.
During supervision, aspects of clinical work may be discussed in an anonymised form, meaning that identifying information is removed and your privacy is protected at all times.
IACP | ethics.
I am a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). This is the largest national organisation in counselling and psychotherapy in Ireland. Qualifications and approaches.
I hold a Certificate, Higher Certificate and a BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy, obtained through
Munster Technological University (MTU). My training was integrative, which means I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches rather than working from a single model.
My approach is therefore informed by person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and body-informed perspectives, which allows me to develop a flexible and responsive approach to meeting each person's unique needs.
In parallel to academic training, I completed extensive supervised clinical practice, supporting adults experiencing a wide range of life challenges, including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, life transitions, and the impact of early experiences.
My approach is grounded in the belief that therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and tailored individually.
Rather than applying a one-for-all model, I draw from different therapeutic perspectives to support each person's process in a way that feels meaningful, respectful, and relevant to them.
My perspective has also been shaped by experiences beyond formal psychotherapy training. Alongside my academic and clinical education, I have trained in coaching, women's yoga, and explored a range of approaches focused on self-awareness, embodiment, and personal development.
While these modalities do not form part of my psychotherapy practice, they have deepened my appreciation for the complexity of human experience and the importance of approaching therapeutic work in a way that honours the whole person.
